Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Maximum Volume
When I started Using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS I noticed when playing music and watching films that even at maximum volume the sound wasn’t as loud as it used to be on Windows.
This is because the sound volume in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS can go up to 150%. To increase the output volume so that it may achieve the actual maximum you need to edit your sound options.
Changing the maximum volume is actually quite simple. Just go to ‘System’ located on the top desktop toolbar, select ‘Preferences’ then ‘Sound’. (Alternatively left click the sound icon located on the left of the top desktop toolbar and select ‘Sound Preferences…’)
In the dialog that pops up you should notice that Output volume is set at 100%, just drag the slider to the far right (150%) and close the dialog box.
Now you have your sound at the maximum volume just like it was before. Hope this helps!
